Cheapie imports force farmers to walk away | thetelegraph.com.au
The reason why farmers are being forced off their land are many including: decades of policies which have allowed control of all but one major food commodity to be controlled beyond the farm gate by foreign owned companies, policies based falsely on the fact that we export most of our food, most of our export markets are controlled now by foreign interests, our labelling laws do not tell us the country of origin of our foods and now we are happy to sell our land to foreign countries and companies to grow food for their population but not for our own people to get the advantage, we sign Free Trade Agreements with countries that fund their farmers because they recognise the importance of Food Security to a country, these countries do not reciprocate the opportunity of free access, do not meet the same growing standards required of our farmers and we under resource our gatekeepers AQIS and Bio Security Australia so they take the science of foreign companies as proof of quality including GM foods which could mean four global countries supply the seed supply to the world. No other developed countries have squandered their sustainable.
